Welcome back to another edition of our blog, where we connect people and places in Phoenix. Today we are very excited to be joined by Abbey Ross, the executive director of The New Way Academy here in Phoenix. She’s here today to tell us a little bit about her school, how they help their students, and how you can help out if you want to get more involved.

The New Way Academy is a school that combines research-based teaching, personalized instruction, and small class sizes to turn academic frustration into enlightenment. Each student’s curriculum is planned around their individual educational needs and abilities based on thorough academic, psycho-educational, speech, language, and motor skills assessments.

Students are taught concepts and subjects in ways they understand, which builds self-esteem and confidence in the classroom. They have access to on-site speech, writing, and occupational therapy conducted by accredited specialists.

New Way Academy has been around for almost 50 years. It was started by two mothers who were frustrated with how their children were being taught in public school. They knew their children had learning disabilities, but, unfortunately, there was no diagnosis during that time. The school now has 215 k-12 students, with small class sizes and personalized curriculum.

Students come to New Way Academy with a variety of learning disabilities, including dyslexia,  A.D.D., high-functioning autism, and more. Their mission is to make sure they are holding true to a student’s true learning profile to help them become all that they can in the future.

If you have any questions about New Way Academy or are curious about ways you can get involved (they are always looking for volunteers), give us a call or send us an email. We would love to hear from you!
