We are delighted to be joined once again by Nate Rhoton from one*n*ten. This is a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services for LGBT youth throughout Maricopa County. What started out as a grassroots effort to provide a safe space for these youth has turned into a fully-functioning youth center and six different satellites that provide services as well.
In addition to this, they have also partnered with other nonprofits like Tumbleweed and Native American Connections to form a collaborative intake network. When homeless youth come into any of the centers, they are put in the system and taken where they need to receive services.
Their offices are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All of their services are provided free of charge too, so they are always fundraising to help more of these kids. You can donate through their website here, or their Facebook page here. There is also a list of regularly needed items that you can donate if you choose to as well. If you would like to volunteer with this wonderful organization, just give their office a call to get connected with the right person.
This organization can help entire families.
On a personal note, this program really helped out my niece when she was young and still trying to figure things out. It’s heartwarming to see how positively an organization like this can impact a whole family. Most parents want to do the right thing, but they don’t always know what that is. One*n*ten can help.
